Can CBD Help With Depression?

CBD inhibits FAAH enzymes and interrupts their ability to degrade cannabinoids like anandamide. This allows for higher amounts of anandamide to accumulate and remain in our systems for more extended periods.

Scientists have also discovered that CBD activates the 5-HT1A serotonin receptor. Serotonin receptors are found in the nervous system and play an important role in modulating anxiety and mood. The influence of serotonin receptors on mental health is significant as they are often the primary target of antidepressants and other medications for depressive conditions. Due to its ability to activate serotonin receptors, CBD may provide users with a safer alternative, free of side effects and other risks associated with pharmaceutical antidepressants.
